This week, we will introduce our Literary Nonfiction unit of study. We will read and explore through many types of examples of literary nonfiction. On Wednesday, Dr. Skeen, our campus Instructional Coach, will visit our classrooms and share one of her literary nonfiction lessons. We also have library on Wednesday so please make sure your child returns their books. We are so excited for Friday this week because our students will be traveling through different countries during our LC Culture Fest. We have several of our incredible parents volunteering to share their experiences from different countries around the world. Please ask your child about this incredible day!!
HOMEWORK
Vocabulary: Unit 10: Read pgs. 126 & 127, draw pictures for words, complete sections: Synonyms, Antonyms, and Vocabulary in Context
Read Works: read and answer questions for the personal narrative story, The Mountain
Please make sure your child is reading each evening. Their Reading Logs and project are due on Friday, March 2nd.
SOCIAL STUDIES
This week, we will continue our unit on Russia. Some topics we will be discussing include Landscapes, Climate and Culture, Energy Riches, and Chernobyl. Students will complete reading notes as we read each section.
Last Thursday, the students were given a homework assignment that will be due Tuesday, February 13th. The students were each given a vocabulary word from our Russia unit to illustrate. These will be displayed in class as our word wall.
WRITING
Last week, students were given several expository prompts to choose for their expository paper. This week, students will begin drafting their papers using the prompt they chose. In grammar, we will continue to work with adverbs.
