On Monday, we will have our Reading Common Assessment. This test will cover all skills we have been working on this quarter. The students can use their Reading ISN to review vocabulary, plot pyramid vocabulary, and what "needs" to be included in each section of the plot pyramid. On Wednesday and Friday, we will introduce and study folktales. We will explore through a book sort and look at different examples of the different types on folktales. The students will complete several activities on these two days. On Friday, they will have a short vocabulary test over the different types of folktales which will be in their ISN.
Homework
ALL students need to login into www.readworks.com; click on "I'm a student", click on "Log in with Google", they need to enter the code I gave them in class, then click on Conner section
Vocabulary homework read page 42, complete pages 43-45 due Friday
Writing
This week, students will be introduced to comma usage. They will also practice applying what they learned. Students will also start their final drafts of their personal narratives on Tuesday and finish them on Thursday.
Social Studies
This week, we will studying how governments are created, structured, maintained, and changed. We will also learn about how geography influenced cultures around the world, what happens when cultures collide, and what issues the United States face today. Students will complete Reading Notes and answer Reading Lab questions as we discuss these topics. On Thursday, Students will be taking a district checkpoint test over concepts learned this quarter.
*Geography homework will be given on Tuesday and due on Thursday.
